"dealing with the ego"
In my line of consulting work, especially when it comes to Ba Zi birth chart analysis, people seek me out for advice and guidance. Sometimes I get enquiries trying to lure me to convince them why they should book an appointment with me. My answer is "only when you are ready". There's a reason why I don't chase after "business"; and it is not because I am "atas" or proud. I was told of this story recently and I thought I should share my retelling of the story here:
There was once a group of young frogs who was fascinated by the sight of an Ox that came to the waterside to drink. After the Ox left, the excited young frogs related their experience to a large old frog about the Ox that was a giant in size compared to them. The old frog puffed himself up and asked the young frogs if the Ox was that big. The young frogs replied "bigger". He puffed himself up more and more until he finally blew himself up.
This story has a moral, and it can be applied to many situations, in this context, pride. An on-point Ba Zi birth chart analysis can unveil many things about a person, and some comments may be so accurate that it becomes sensitive. When you have a strong ego, the glass is full and there's no point pouring more water into the glass. If a person is not ready to listen, then the appointment time is wasted.
A wise politician was once consulted by his younger comrades who asked if they should tell their neighbouring countries' politicians what to do. The wise old politician related this frog story.
